COMMUNITY SAFETY

Common Agenda:

People Feel Safe in Pomona.

Goals include increasing support to Pomona youth, decreasing gang violence, increasing access to intervention services for substance abuse, domestic violence, sex trafficking.


  • Prepare Pomona:  Collaboration with the American Red Cross.  Trains neighborhood leaders and provides tools and resources to build community capacity for resilience and disaster response to emergency situations ranging from shootings to earthquakes.  Includes preparation for households, continuity of operations planning for businesses, high school clubs, pillowcase project for children.  It also provides first aid and CPR certification training, free smoke alarms.


  • Safe Dates program with Pomona Unified School District (PUSD)


  • Heart Team:  Outreach to homeless individuals


Participants:  Pomona Police Department, City of Pomona, Project Sister, Prototypes, House of Ruth, Foothill Family Services, Southern California Service Corps, American Red Cross, Historical Society of Pomona Valley, PUSD, Pomona Host Lions, Office of Superintendent Hilda Solis.
